Hey...it's me Dawn from www.LookWhatICanDo.etsy.com. I am a self proclaimed Plush-a-holic soooo (meaning I love to make stuffed creatures and collect other handmade ones)I thought why not name my blog that. So I did. I will be sharing my thoughts, the works of other artists I think are amazing, tidbits about my family and my life and of course Plush creations (Love=Creatures) by myself and those that inspire me.

Okay so I am a bit stressed of late. Being a full time Ma to two kids is wiping me out. My wonderful daughter whom I love dearly is pushing me to my limits especially in the morning. I have to figure out a smart way to get her to take more responsibility in the morning. There is just so much to do and never enough time and we argue. I try to keep my cool but I admit I lose it from time to time. The holidays are coming way too FAST this year and I am trying to keep it all fun and exciting but there is only so much time in a day. Anywho...just a really quick release of frustration usually helps. Hope everyone is enjoying the marvelous holiday season!!! xoxo Back to house work and hopefully sewing. Actually managed to get a few things 1/2 done last night. :) Oh...My Birthday is this Friday. Yup I am a Sag...in every sense of the meaning except I don't get to travel much. I would like to. Jason and I will go out to a dinner and movie and he took the WHOLE day off in honor of my Birth. That is so nice of him to do. Anywho...Sag people RULE!!!

Hey lady, mornings are hard. Motherhood kicks my ass on a regular basis. I know that when my girls sense my stress it panics them. (For one in particular, me being stressed makes her feel unsafe -- and she pushes the envelope just to see my reaction. Fun!)
One of the things I've tried for my not-a-morning-person daughter, is a laminated morning to-do check-list (with pictures). It has helped her to take more responsibility. And, ahem, we have ones for night-time and outings too. We don't use them all the time (and not nearly as much as we used to) but they are very helpful when we do. It helps provide Alice with some self-directed structure, and I don't feel like I'm riding her so much. xoxo
Thanks for all the help Betsy...I was actually thinking about making a get ready morning chart at the beginning of the school year and have not done it yet...I think it would help a lot. Thanks so much.
hang in there Dawn! You are an awesome mother.
And happy birthday for tomorrow!
xo
Happy early Birthday! Our bdays are a week apart, mine was last week ;p Hope you have a super day!
I like the chart/morning to-do list with pictures idea. Also maybe in cohesion or separately, you can set up a reward jar. Anytime she does one of her tasks, you could put a little picture for brushing teeth, getting dressed etc in it. And maybe after two weeks, or at the end of the month she could get a little reward for getting so many things done :) You could also take one out anytime she behaves badly. You could set a number of, let's say, if you collect 30 pictures, you get some kind of reward. It could be something as simple as going to get ice cream together that day or the next and she can pick whatever she wants... simple stuff like that. :)
Happy Birthday!
& no kidding about the hols coming too fast. December needs to slow down!
